“You’re really protective over your sisters.”

“I have been ever since my dad died. They need me to be.”

“It seems like you annoy them more than anything,” Kyla said, laughing when I shrugged. “Especially Ria.”

“So?”

I didn’t care if Evie and Ria got pissed at me for acting like a big brother should. It was my job to make sure they didn’t do shit that would get them in trouble, especially when it came to the opposite sex. Guys were pigs, and my sisters were naïve when it came to relationships. They trusted too easily.

“They’re lucky to have you. I’d love a brother to annoy me with how much he cared about me.”

“You should tell them that.”

She kicked off her shoes as we walked in the house, switching topics. “Dinner went okay, right? Do you think your family liked me?”

“Of course they liked you.” I pulled her closer and linked my fingers behind her back. “When you went to the bathroom, my mom gushed over you. Told me I better hold on to you because you’re a good one.” I pecked her lips. “She’s right. You are a good one. In fact, you’re exceptional, especially when you do that thing with your hips when we’re—”

“Shut up,” she teased, trying to wiggle out of my hold, but it was futile. When she eventually stopped, she pressed her lips to mine. “Do you want me to do that thing now?”

“Don’t tease me, woman.”

“I’m not. But you’re gonna have to let me go so I can take off my clothes.”

I couldn’t have released her quicker if I tried. Her laughter trailed behind her as she made her way toward the steps. I was hot on her heels, the desire to bury myself inside her stronger than ever before.

Once we approached my bedroom, she entered, and I stopped in the doorway, watching her, wishing we could remain just as we were right now. There were so many unknowns in my life, especially relating to the club and the shit we were involved in, that to factor in Kyla almost became too much. Which was exactly why I’d kept an emotional distance from her for so long. Turned out, it was the stupidest mistake of my life, and I was thrilled when she showed up at the ruckus, even though the situation hadn’t been ideal.

There was no going back now. Not for me.

“Are you going to just stand there all night?” She removed her cream-colored, sleeveless sweater and tossed it to the floor. Next was her bra, followed by her jeans. Standing in nothing but a pair of pink underwear, she turned around and exposed her ass.

God bless whoever created thongs.

“I thought you wanted to… you know.” Kyla wiggled her hips, turning to look at me over her shoulder.

“Oh, I know.” My dick ached, so why was I still standing on the threshold of the room? It wasn’t like we hadn’t had sex since getting back together. What was my hesitation?

Kyla was in front of me before I saw her take a step.
